Karsten advises contracting authorities and private suppliers on public procurement processes specialising, in particular, on the procurement of information technology. He also focuses on the civil law issues associated with IT law.

He qualified as a lawyer in 2003. Until May 2017 he was a partner in an international law firm.

Karsten regularly gives lectures and is the author of various publications on public procurement and IT law.
